Basic Records and Property Information
Function of the Recorder
The county recorder is custodian of all recorded documents and records required by law to be recorded. These documents and records are public records and are available to the public during business hours.
The county recorder also prepares and maintains property ownership plat maps. Revised copies of these maps and ownership changes are given to the county assessor. The County Recorder’s Office also acts as the county surveyor’s office only for the purpose of accepting, retaining, and managing county survey records.
